Driving Lessons

I was talking with my friend yesterday and he mentioned that he was taking a driving lesson that day.  There are driving, highway driving and defensive driving lessons.  I got an idea for a new driving course.  The Drunk Driving Lessons.  Drunk drives cause a huge amount of accidents and deaths in America and the government is always trying to minimize drunk driving.  The problem is that they'll never be able to get rid of the problem.  Since they know that people will drive drunk anyway, they should offer drunk driving lessons where people will be taught to drive safer while intoxicated.  The government's reason for teaching sex in school is that since the kids will do it anyway, this way, they'll be at least educated about it and hopefully, if they do have sex, will use condoms.  Drunk Driving Lessons are the same, people will still drive drunk no matter what penalty they may face, why not educate them to drive drunk in a safer way.

  1. I think another good element on waging a fight against drunk driving is having a large, powerful car, not one of those crappy plastic Japanese pieces of shit. I personally like the look of our good ol' American Dodge Charger (I see a lot of bruthas driving one); it has a powerful engine and body, great design, roomy, used by police departments (to some extent by NYPD as well).

  3. Sorry, never going to happen. It would be like giving lessons in vehicular manslaughter. The only thing that the classes would be is for people to know the dangers and know not to do it. if people take lessons then they will feel that it is now ok for them to drive intoxicated.

But hey if you want to have more deaths by car; set up the program.

O and save me a beer.

  4. Alan- not to burst your bubble, but it's the drivers of the Japanese cars who often times can fare better in accidents than the American cars you praise.

Does whiplash sound fun? How about not surviving a side impact crash with an SUV? How does it feel to drive a car with an interior that makes Fisher Price cars look upscale? What about breaking down on the side of the road and incurring costly repairs?

Yep, great American cars. Too bad they're still playing catch up with the Japanese.

  5. The problem with that idea is that there is nothing you can teach that will fix the issues of how drunk drivers drive. They drive that way because they can't help it. Their senses get impaired, they can't see, the lights blind them. They get mad at other drivers. While drunk the person has no recollection of anything. So although they may be taught how to drive properly when drunk, the concept is impossible, cause they have no control over their state.

  6. contrariwise, if one knows how to drive drunk how much better will that person drive while sober. it's an a fortiori.
